The Black Literary Arts Center is an urban infill project located centrally in Downtown, Portland, OR. Restitching the black community into the fabric of the city, as opposed to the outer limits in North Portland. Design exploration began with the spatial orientation of murals in architecture and historical research of José Clemente Orozco's frescoes and social perspective. Following this a series of architectural fragment (section) models were generated. Poetics and didactic elements culminated in full scale conceptual tectonic models and a manifesto (zine).
